Ramboll named New Jersey Board of Public Utilities Offshore Wind Strategic Plan Partner

Ramboll to team with New Jersey-based partners to secure a leadership role for the State in the developing U.S. offshore wind market

NEWARK, N.J., Aug. 16, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJ BPU) has selected Ramboll to coordinate and facilitate the development of the State’s Offshore Wind (OSW) Strategic Plan as called for under Governor Murphy’s Executive Order No. 8, which set the most ambitious goal in the U.S. of 3,500 Megawatts of offshore wind capacity by 2030. Ramboll will lead a team that includes Stantec Consulting Services Inc. (Stantec), Rutgers Energy Institute Wind Group (REI-Wind LESS/CAIT), BVG Associates LLC (BVGA), the Business Network for Offshore Wind (the Network), InGroup Inc. (InGroup) and Endeavor Fisheries (Endeavor). The OSW Strategic Plan will guide the development of offshore wind as a renewable energy source in the State.

This strong team of New Jersey practitioners and firms brings experience in all areas of the developing offshore wind market, both domestically and internationally. Their combined U.S. and global experience and expertise provides a deep understanding of the offshore wind market and the specific implications for New Jersey.

According to Allan DeLorme, Americas President of Ramboll’s Environment & Health business, “Ramboll has been leading the industry since it began in Denmark in 1986 and developed across Europe and into the U.S. Many lessons have been learned from Europe that can be applied to the U.S. market, but only with a strong understanding of the local environment, and the energy generation and usage markets. Together, this team is uniquely suited to help New Jersey develop a smart and effective OSW Strategic Plan that meets the needs and addresses the concerns of all constituents, while ensuring that the State achieves its goal of being a leader in the U.S. offshore wind market.”

Global engineering, design and consulting firm Ramboll brings decades of New Jersey-based experience to the project, as well as extensive experience in the developing U.S. offshore wind market. Ramboll has a long history in wind energy. The firm designed nearly two-thirds of the offshore wind turbine foundations and many of the platforms operating across the world today, and has a strong presence in the U.S. and global onshore wind markets.

Stantec brings in-depth experience in the offshore ecological conditions of continental shelf areas and how they interact with offshore wind infrastructure.

REI-Wind LESS/CAIT integrates Rutgers University’s expertise in science, engineering, economics and policy, positioning it at the vanguard of alternative energy research.

BVGA has been a driving force in offshore wind energy generation from its early days as a commercial activity, acting as lead strategic advisors to the industry as it has developed in Europe and the U.S.

The Network has brought together domestic and international businesses and governments to educate and prepare U.S. businesses to enter the offshore wind industry and establish the supply chain market.

InGroup has a long and successful track record of providing public outreach and agency coordination for projects requiring broad and diverse stakeholder involvement in New Jersey.

Endeavor has led successful marine and fisheries research efforts and has provided a variety of services to the offshore wind industry.
