The Tau Nursing Station in Nadroga will now enjoy solar powered light system thanks to Associates of Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay

The resort’s engineering team has recently completed the project of installing solar powered lights, panels and batteries.

It will allow the nursing station to provide for its needs as the solar panels  transform solar energy into direct electric current.

This electrical power will be used for inside and outside lighting of the nursing station and for the driveway lights.

Director of Engineering Muni Pillay said, “solar power allows eco-friendly energy consumption. It is also cost-efficient, and will save a lot of money.

“Apart from eliminating the need to pay for electricity bills the system provides consistent power supply even during the power cut-offs.

“We are proud to sponsor this amazing project, and happy to help the local community.”

With the help from its leisure guests and corporate clients Fiji Marriott Resort supports local communities and implements various environmental and social programmes to make local villages’ better places to live in, work and visit.

This initiative builds on Marriott International’s commitment to advance the resilience and development of local communities.

Global chief communications officer Tricia Primrose said, “Associates and customers want to work for and do business with a company that aligns with their values and drives positive community impact. We are proud to be part of the solution.”
